Spiritual Sunday, Mid Week...

Today is the day that I really find out what I am made of as a manger. I have been worrying about this day all month long, but the one thing that I have to do is let go and let god. I have faith that everything is going to work out for the best. If not, then Lord, please order my steps.

The Cooking Chronicles...

Alright, so many of you may know that I am watching what I eat and making some lifestyle changes. I have been using calorie counter and thanks to it I have really been watching what I eat and the portions.

Anywoo, I loss about 6lbs. and 2 inches off of my waist, but there is still work to be done. I have been trying to limit/elimitate the carbs in my dinners after 7 pm. This is a meal that I came up with just by surfing the web and using what I had in the house.

Mustard Crusted Salmon with Baked Cheesy Tomatoes and Rosted Asaragus

Baked Salmon:http://lizslemonbowl.blogspot.com/2011/01/dijon-crusted-salm on.html
(How funny is that its from a site called Liz Lemon, ha! If you are a 30 Rock fan, you'll get it!) SN: I didn't use the panko breadcrumbs

Baked Cheesy Tomatoes: http://www.laaloosh.com/2011/09/07/cheesy-baked-tomatoes-rec ipe/
(Also, I tweaked mine in today's meal because I used a different cheese than stated, so I added the calories on)

Roasted Asparagus: Salt, Pepper, Olive Oil, and Asparagus in the oven for 30 minutes.

Total calories: 476

Is It Worth It?

Designer Bags. Is it worth it to get the real thing? Or should you get a good quality replica? I have been debating on this one for a while. I have real Coach and Dooney purses, but when was the last time you seen a celebrity with one? Most celebrities go for the higher end, less noticeable, but always striking (in my opinion) bags. Some of my friends have real Louis Vuittons and Gucci bags, but when I think about the price...whoa! Now, its a recession, everybody broke [in my Jezzy voice], and shelling out $600 for a bag isn't in my budget, nor would I be able to justify spending that much without having 6 months of income in savings. Which brings me to this: The Alexander Wang Bag.

Real thing. Retail price: $875

Alexa Studded Calfskin Leather Bag Black
The replica from baginc.com made from real leather. Retail price: $149

Which one would you choose? I know which one that I'm going with.

Wanting...

With income tax time in full swing, I have made a list of things that I want to buy with my refund...(cricket) after I pay off my credit card and make and extra payment on my student loans (cricket).

In no particular order:

Viva Glam a la Nicki Minaj. The color looks amazing and I want it! I wouldn't mind Pink Friday 4, but I think that there are several dupes out there.

Don't ask me why. I think that they would be cute with a nautical stripped shirt and red flats. Great in the summer with a tank and sandals. Just something different.

Lately on YouTube and on a couple of blogs, I have been seeing The Diva Cup around. I think that this may be good investment for me. If you don't know about The Diva Cup, google it!

A Healthy Discovery!

So, I am trying to get back on track with my fitness and weight loss resolutions and I have discovered two ground breaking products that have changed my life. Well, maybe its not that dramatic, but still. For any of you that may be watching your calories or trying to lose weight, continue reading.

My personal challenge was to find a snack that can curb that sweet tooth that I have when that time of the month comes around. If you look at some of the chocolates out there, a couple of squares can be 200+ calories. While browsing Target I came across the Skinny Cow Dreamy Clusters Candy. Let me just say that these things are GOOD! Maybe the best candy that I have tasted. The one thing that got me is that they come in dark chocolate! I love dark chocolate!

Milk Chocolate
This candy gives you just enough to take the edge off of your craving. I highly suggest these to anyone--watching your weight or not.

I loves me some water, but there are those times when I get tired of lemon in my water, lime in my water, lemon and lime in my water (affectionately called a Sprite The Hard Way), nothing in my water. Dang it, just plain water. I browsed my local organic supermarket, Giant Eagle: The Market District, and found Harney and Sons Organic Peach Invigorating Black Tea. On sale and something that can break the monotony of water...sold!

Organic Peach Bottled Iced Tea

At only 20 calories per serving you cannot go wrong. Oh yeah, its already slightly sweetened--not with some artificial stuff either. Just be careful one bottle is two servings...speaking of bottles how funky is that one?!?!

Got a healthy discovery? Let me know! I'm always on the look out for some good stuff

My Perfect Valentines Day...

In my life, I have had two really memorable Valentines Day's. I am not talking about going to dinner and then a hotel, but the really personal, memorable, and loving ones that will stick with you. At this current time, I do not have a significant other that I can share today with. But that is not going to stop me from using my imagination and make a perfect Valentines Day. This may give someone out there some great ideas on how to make their loves day a little more special.
Don't ask me how or when I became obsessed with log cabins, but I just am. I would love to spend a weekend in a log cabin in either New York or North Carolina. Why? I just think that the peace and quiet would be great time spend becoming more intimate with one another--not just physically. Once we arrive there we can explore our surroundings. Ok, let's just get this straight, by no means am I an outdoorsy type girl. Exploring the surrounding town, getting a meal at the local dinner, going to the spa together. Just relaxing, quality time spent.

Back to the cabin for a homemade dinner of surf and turf, wine and some music playing. Maybe a dip in the hot tub...Ok, you all know the rest.

Not Valentines Day 2012, but one in the near future I'm sure ;)

What's you perfect Valentines Day? What was your most memorable?

Spiritual Sunday: Prayer

You don't even have to be the one praying, but if you get around somebody who really know how to pray--prayer will lift you when you've fallen, prayer will catch you when you've lost your grip, prayer will stop you from going overboard, prayer will bring you out!

Busy Times...

This month is proving to kick my behind and its only the 7th day! I have worked 6 of the 7 days. Sigh. It's not going to get any better. I will be back to my regularly scheduled posts shortly, and perhaps the creative spirit will hit me this weekend on Sunday...when I have a day off.

In other news, I am not looking forward to Valentines Day, but I am going to try to find something to do that will lift my spirits without reminding me that I don't have a man this year. Now that I think about it, I have had some really memorable Valentines Days. Two stick out in my mind. (Idea for V-Day Post)

Ugh, I am counting calories. I have started on a more constant basis of tracking what I eat. It really makes a difference when I think about what to eat or I am putting in my mouth. I am still tracking food on calorie counter and so far its so good. Also, I have started doing some home workouts. I brought my running shoes and hope that once the weather breaks, I will be able to go out for a jog. Even though it has been 60 degrees in February here in Southwestern PA, I'm waiting for more consistant weather.. I will be weighing in this weekend.

Until Next Post...
