Budgeting 101: October 2012

Pinned Image

Starting October, 1, 2012, I will be starting a debt diet. My goal is to try to save $5000 in a year. I will be using some of the things that I have learned from several books, websites, tv shows, and just common sense.

Me and My Natural Hair

My big chop occurred on June 13, 2012. My mother did it and I immediately thought 'What did I do'. After I washed, conditioned my hair, I prepared for the next day of getting Senegalese twists put in. Fast forward 3 months later, and this is what I got.

This was my very first twist out! I used Entwine Couture products on damp hair.

The hardest thing for me to get used to is the length. I am not used to short hair. This isn't the shortest that its ever been, but I have to get used to the curly look. I may start a natural hair series because I have a whole lot of learning, trials and errors to do. Stay Tuned!

New Fall Posts?

Pinned Image

With the dawn of a new season of shows, there is a new seasons of posts here on Walking Through Honey!  This weeks posts will give you a glimpse into what's coming up next, and also give me a little break to create. I will admit that I have been slacking on alot of things, but hopefully I will get back on the right path.

I am hoping to have more Krafts, tutorials, maybe and outfit of the day or two...wait, I am sounding YouTube guru like, lol!

Fall Styles...

I just realized that I need to step up my business casual game for the fall. I recently wore something to work that was completely out of character. I think that I have gotten into a rut, with my Target granny sandals and skirt down to my mid calf. Yeah, you don't want to see pictures of it. I am now re-committed to revamping my fall work wardrobe.

Here are some fall inspirational styles that I hope to get...but with me going on a budget, I am not sure how this is going to happen.

These are just a few ideas, but do you notice a theme...Burgundy. I got to step up my heel game, and just clothing in general. I have to do this on a budget...so this will be interesting.

Sedona Lace 88 Matte Palette Review...

I'm not really the one for beauty reviews, but this one kind of blew me away. I had to go to a wedding with a peacock theme. I decided that I would do a little something different with my eyes. I watched a couple of YouTube videos that had peacock themed eyeshadow tutorials and just went for it. About a year ago, I brought the Sedona Lace 88 Matte Palette during a sale. Ok, 88 shadows for $12 plus shipping...I'm slightly sceptical.

I used it once and wasn't impressed at all. It reminded me of the cheap stuff that you get from the dollar store. It didn't last, colors wasn't vibrant at all. I thought that it was just a waste. My cousin used it and loved it! I was almost tempted to give it to her until I seen a video where the woman used a Nyx Milk Jumbo Pencil as the base, instead of eyeshadow primer. This is what makes all the difference, it makes all of the colors bright, vibrant, pop.

When I did my look, I wish that I would have taken close up pictures because it really came out pretty! I got complements about how nice my eyeshadow was. And, just as a disclaimer, I have big eyes, so I am not big on wearing crazy, bright, colors.

I would suggest this palette to anyone! This is not like the Naked Palette that has massive amounts of fallout. You get enough colors that you can create almost any look. And for the price of $19, you cannot beat it!

Fall is Coming!

Fall is right around the corner, and for some reason I am looking forward to it! Scarves, Soups, perfect weather, and hopefully a man to share it all with. Anytime the temperature drops, my want for comfort food goes up. I was browsing pintrest and I found a recipe for Double Crunch Honey Garlic Chicken Breast, and I thought that I would give it a try since I had everything that I needed to make it. Here are the final results! Yum!

I followed the directions exactly except I added cornstarch to my flour mix, more spices, and fresh ginger. It was so good! I wish that I would have made more of the sauce. I paired it with quinoa and broccoli and cheese. Quinoa is really good. I think that I prefer it over rice, depending on the dish.

What are some of your favorite comfort foods?
