Thankful Tuesdays at Work!

I just had to post that today was a good day! It seems like everywhere I looked there was good thing happening around me at work.  I normally post Thankful Thursdays, but this time I was so excited that I just had to share...right now!

  • I am so thankful that one of my residents finally got her stuff together to go another site! Long story, she needed a birth certificate to be able to transfer units, and she got it! I am so proud of her. Sad to lose her as a resident, but happy because I know that she'll love her new place even more and its the best for her.

  • Everyone that I called today answered their phone! Great! Yes! At work, that is a good thing.

  • My part-time maintenance aid had a good attitude and was willing to help out with stuff. He begged to leave early, but I got more out of him than most people did.

  • One of the other managers was at a store and asked if he could pick my material up and deliver it to my site! Sure can!

  • Without even asking one of tradesman volunteered to come help with snow removal, if needed!

  • I got someone to help out while my full-time maintenance aid is off!

Not work related, and possibly the best thing ever, my dad wants to buy my car and help me get a new one! There ain't no body like my daddy! I love him so much! It's kind of like a win-win for the both of us.

I feel so blessed! Thank You Jesus! I know that some of this seems like small stuff, but it helped make my day. Its the little things with me.

Feeling Blessed and Highly Favored??!? Let me know--no matter how small it was!

Fall Styles...

I just realized that I need to step up my business casual game for the fall. I recently wore something to work that was completely out of character. I think that I have gotten into a rut, with my Target granny sandals and skirt down to my mid calf. Yeah, you don't want to see pictures of it. I am now re-committed to revamping my fall work wardrobe.

Here are some fall inspirational styles that I hope to get...but with me going on a budget, I am not sure how this is going to happen.

These are just a few ideas, but do you notice a theme...Burgundy. I got to step up my heel game, and just clothing in general. I have to do this on a budget...so this will be interesting.

Spiritual Sunday

Alright, so after listening to Joel last week preach about Blooming Where You're Planted, brings me to my professional life. Now sure that are so many things that I wish that I could change about my job. Please just let me put it out there that I am so GRATEFUL to have a job, along with the benefits and flexibility. But I must admit that I am not completely fulfilled there. As much of a public servant that I am, there still isn't that sense of fulfillment or that I have actually done something good for someone else. The people whom I help don't really feel blessed to have what they have, they feel like they are entitled to it. Well, some of them.

This all has me thinking about starting my own business and/or non-profit. I am constantly toying with the ideas, but lately, there are parts of me that just want to take the leap and do it! And do it right here in Pittsburgh, none the less. You know, I have a friend who is constantly down-talking Pittsburgh. She has so many negative things to say about the nightlife, quality of life for African Americans, the lack of higher paying salaries, just anything and everything. It bothers me so much, I mean like nails on a chalkboard in a cave echoing, when I am talking to her because she hasn't lived here in so long that she doesn't know that things have changed, and to know that not everyone here makes $10 an hour. Sorry, went off on a tangent there.

Perhaps there is a reason for me being here. After all of the research and job searching that I have done in other states, I still have yet to get an offer out of state doing something that I feel would be uprooting my life for. Then again, maybe the Lord has sat me here in Pittsburgh to grow and then take me off on another path or place. Either way, I have decided that I am going to continue to work diligently at my job, trying to make a difference, using everything that I possibly can to make my job a better place, all while asking the Lord to guide me to start a business or non-profit, if its in his will. Contentment. Putting myself at peace with the whole moving, staying, job situation thingy.

Oh yeah, I am also going to really pray about possibly buying a house.

Spiritual Sunday

Normally, I always have something ready to post for Spiritual Sunday, but this Sunday I didn't. I have been going through some trials with family and work. This morning, I woke up and look at a telecast service and scanned YouTube since I need to find something different to do with my hair this week. I came across a subscriber LubellaCoils. She had just posted a series on God's Divine Purpose For Your Life. I only watched part 4, since I hadn't been following the series and didn't notice title. I just clicked on it.

Lately on my job, I have been spazing out and I'll admit that my job is draining me. This weekend, I didn't do anything because I was so tired from all of the problems and things that had been coming up. This last week was particularly bad for me. I have no support from my assistant, not to mention the negativity. Another thing, is that I noticed myself letting her negativity rub off on me. Not being my normal self, trying to do things that I normally don't do, letting people influence me. Not following the path of God or obeying what I know and have been taught.

It's funny that the first part of this video pertains to my situation that I am dealing with at work. Now, if you have read parts of my blog, you will know that I am trying to be more creative. At work, I am faced with something that can actually use my creativity. Here is the synopsis: One of my sites needs to more elderly people, so there needs to be a marketing/advertising plan done to increase the awareness. At my job, we have a marketing/leasing agent, but the ideas that she had were lack-luster to say the least. Actually, it would yield minimal results. Instead of me seeing this as an opportunity to use my creativity and skills, I decided to let her handle it. I listened to people say 'That isn't your job, let her do it'. And that is what I went with, but the more that I think about it, its a great chance for me to use my creativity. Unfortunately, with all of the people talking and clouding my judgment I couldn't see it until I took some time away from work, and the negativity, to see.  This is something that doesn't just pertain to my job, but also my personal life. I have so many things that I want to do, but is just so drained that I don't have time. My job gives me 14 personal days and 14 vacation days for a reason.

This video may not completely illustrate my situation, but it did open up my eyes.

Check out the video! Be Blessed and Stay Encouraged!

Procrastination is like Masturbation...

So, its Saturday night and I am sitting here writing a post about 'Procrastination being like Masturbation' and looking at my guilty pleasure Awkward. How did this all start? Well, back in college, during one of those hazy nights that involved Barcardi 151 in the all boys dorm, I came across a sheet of paper posted on the wall. It said: Procrastination is like Masturbation, you always end up getting screwed. Not quite Langston Hughes, but poetic, none the less.

Which brings us to this. A Saturday night when I thought that thought that I would be at the movies falling asleep or pretending to be into whatever movie that I would be watching with a dude that I really don't trust. Whew, that was a mouthful. Not that I would have ended up getting screwed by him at the end of the night (see celibacy vlog coming soon), but he probably would have tried. Where are all the good men at???!?!?!? Sigh.

Anyway, instead of doing something on the 360 in 365 list, or at least researching to attempt to cross something off of that list, I decided to check out random Youtube videos on knitting. Yeah. That's right, knitting. For what? I am not sure. I think that its just another way for me to procrastinate in doing what I need to do. I really don't need to know how to knit...I need to perfect my calligraphy, so that I can possibly make some extra money by doing it. After watching the video on Youtube, I actually contemplated driving to Wal-Mart and get some knitting supplies. Now, there are a million other things that I need and should be doing, including work for my job, finishing my Limited application, washing clothes, cleaning up, and the list can go on and on.

In the end of not doing anything really today, I will end up getting screwed on Monday night when I am trying to finish all of the work for my job, wash clothes, clean up for the week, and all of the other miscellaneous things that I should have done today with my free time.

This post has nothing to do with masturbation
