The Game...

I am sitting here house a mess, thirsty, stinkin', all because of this Game marathon on BET. Today was supposed to be Spring Cleaning, but after going out and getting a new bathroom set and some other items, I don't feel like doing anything. Shame, Shame, SHAME! I really miss the old episodes of The Game, pre-married Derwin and Melanie on the CW. Those were the days!

The Game: Sitcom's Return On BET Nearly Finalized

So, tell me are you going to be tuning into the new season of The Game on BET?

I am on the fence about it. After last season, I don't know if I can suffer through it since the story lines and acting has gone down the tubes since BET took over, and the original cast is not intact.

A Lost Love...

Organic Curl Enhancing Smoothie, Coconut & Hibiscus

I am not a product junkie, but I will try different things until I find what works for me. This week for a protective style I decided to wear a wig. Mainly because my shows came on Sunday and after cooking, washing my hair, and watching the shows, I didn't want to deal with my hair and it was going to be cold during the week. I normally moisturize with Qhemet BiologicsAlma & Olive Heavy Cream, but for some reason I reached for the Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie. There was just a thin coat in the bottom of the jar, so I said might as well use this little bit on up. I started to part for my 6 big braids and my hair was ssooooo soft! I'm not sure why I ever stopped using it?  It was like I was meeting a lost love for the first time all over again and he still knew everything about you, and you picked up right where you left off at before you split up.

Days later, my hair is still moisturized and not greasy at all! Where have you been all of my life?!! Oh yeah, right on the shelf next to the Suave Conditioner and bergamont hair grease that my mother forced me to take from her house. Don't get me wrong, I still love myQhemet Biologics, but the weather is getting warmer and I will not need something as heavy. I am back in love with my Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie ya'll!

Music Monday...

Don't judge me. Please just download and listen to the fundamental, slightly redundant lyrics, perfectly timed ad libs, and catchy beats that stay in your head.

He most definitely isn't eye candy, and I keep on hearing him being referred to as a Jerome off of Martin look alike.

My Migraines...

[image]I called off of work today because lately I have been having some serious migraines. While in college, I had a short bout with them and was prescribed Imitrex to help relieve the pain. I stopped taking this and all of the medicine that they prescribed because of the way that it made me feel; mainly, all loopy, floppy, sleepy, and lethargic.

I believe that the ones that I have been experiencing for the past week or so are due to stress. It's been so much with work, planning and helping people out with different things, the weather, and just stress in general that I cannot think of anything else that have been causing this. I also believe that it also has something to do with my hormones. I have stopped taking Vitex and started taking Dong Quai. In a prior post, I talked about stopping taking birth control and trying something more natural, Vitex, to regulate my periods. I took if for the recommended amount of time, and gave myself a break. Since I was unsuccessful with Vitex, I decided to try something a little stronger. I am giving Dong Quai a try for at least 8 weeks. I am also going to up the dose and see if that will help with keeping my periods regular.

As for the migraines, all I can do is just hope for the best. I took a couple of over the counter migraine pills and rested.

Ready For Love: An Upcoming Post

I am ready for love
Why are you hiding from me
I'd quickly give my freedom
To be held in your captivity

I am ready for love
All of the joy and the pain
And all the time that it takes
Just to stay in your good grace
Lately I've been thinking
Maybe you're not ready for me
Maybe you think I need to learn maturity
They say watch what you ask for
Cause you might receive
But if you ask me tomorrow
I'll say the same thing

I am ready for love
Would you please lend me your ear?
I promise I won't complain
I just need you to acknowledge I am here

If you give me half a chance
I'll prove this to you
I will be patient, kind, faithful and true
To a man who loves music
A man who loves art
Respect's the spirit world
And thinks with his heart

I am ready for love
If you'll take me in your hands
I will learn what you teach
And do the best that I can

I am ready for love
Here with an offering of
My voice
My Eyes
My soul
My mind

Tell me what is enough
To prove I am ready for love

I am ready

Almost Clean Eating: Lettuce Wraps!

I had a craving for some lettuce wraps...out of nowhere. I don't know where it came from, but I just googled P.F. Chang's Lettuce Wraps, and this is what I came up with...

This no-carb dinner was almost clean. There are two processed items used to make it and I paired it with some SteamFresh Asian vegetables. I couldn't wait for lunch the next day! It was quick and easy to make. Well, let me rephrase that, there was alot of chopping involved.

Work It Out!

My arms are burning. I smell like a mixture of onions and salt. My legs are killing me. Yes, I have been working out.

I feel like I got the diet down pretty good. And even though I am not 100% clean, but I am about 80% or more during the week and just two bad meals during the weekend. I have decided to start back working out. I am sorry to the neighbors below me, but the 30 minutes that I have to work out 5 days a week will not kill you.

What will my workouts consist of? As of right now, I am doing 30 Day Shred, 5 days a week. I really want to start doing the Butt Bible again. Thankfully, I found it on YouTube in its full original version (Yace!). I started doing Pilates last week, and will incorporate it again at some time, but right now I'm focusing on 30 Day Shred. I would love to start back walking/running when the weather breaks...we are expecting a snow storm this week in PA.

Ok, I am off to take a shower, repin my hair, and pack my lunch for tomorrow...After Biggest Loser.

My First Time...

So, after all of the great clean eating, I ate fast food out for the first time yesterday. I know, I know. I was coming home from my mother's house and I was so hungry that I didn't know what to do with myself...and I did the worst thing that a clean eater could do...go through a drive-thru. Gasp!

The one thing that anyone will tell you about clean eating is that you have to plan out your meals. If you don't you are bound to sway away from the clean eating plan. For the record, I have eaten out on the weekend, but I try to make the best possible choices that I possibly can without making it myself. For example, I have been eating Thai food about once a week. Why? Because I feel like the only thing that is really bad for me is the sauce that they use on it. I cut the portions in half and always opt for either shrimp or chicken. The basil chicken (or shrimp) is filled with vegetables and every place that I get Thai food from offers brown rice. I also ate a fish sandwich and fries one Friday from the local joint that we get sandwiches from Emil's. Side note: If you are in the Rankin/Braddock/Pittsburgh area, please get a fish sandwich from Emil's--so good!

I went to Burger King and got the following: Four (4) piece chicken nuggets and a Whopper Jr. with no mayo, add mustard. I am sure that there were other things that I could have gotten, but there wasn't anything that looked good. I'll be honest with you there aren't too many thing foods that excite me if I don't cook it myself. There is something about the challenge of eating clean that excites me. Trying new foods, putting things together that I normally wouldn't, and being perfectly content with eating what I have until its gone. Trust and Believe, that food wasn't great. It served its purpose, but it wasn't satisfying--at all. I'm back on the clean eating wagon--Don't worry!
